Things your Mama and tour guide never told you about Central America.

Things you will be told on this forum are things that actually has happened to Expats in central America and Nicaragua. It is not designed to deter you from making a decision of living here. Just some helpful hints on how to avoid being screwed around by a corrupt system. Trust me, these countries are loaded with it from top to bottom. It is sickening to hear stories on here where people living on a fixed income come here because they just can not afford to live in their home country and immediately start getting ripped off by elements here. There are many people that read this site and probably have some very true experiences of their own that they would be very happy to relay to you in order to save you of the same experience. A lot of the people that retire here are coming to enjoy what time they have left and not to die. They should be able to enjoy themselves and not have to be put through the nightmares that can be found here. Anyone that has had a bad experience, would you please post it and also what you have learned from it and pass it on. We don't have www.com website so this may be the only way to get the message out. Please, no BS.
