Forrest Gump: Stupid is as stupid does.

BACK TO BASICS!

About 3 weeks ago, the Nica Community Living had an article entitled, "Are You Drinking Enough Water" by Dr. Jerry Lee Hoover N.D.

I highly recommend reading the article ... again, if necessary! From PERSONAL experience, I'd say that the article is #1 on the list of things to read for "newbie" expats.

Experience is our best teacher, and hindsight is well ... the court jester that pokes fun at our faux pas'.

Sunday, I hit the floor and was carried by 2 hefty gardeners to my bedroom. My roommate called our MD and when she read the blood pressure to him (80/47), he came immediately. I was dehydrated!!! Since I am a type II diabetic, I placed myself in serious danger. Of course it wasn't intentional ... but then it usually isn't intentional, is it?

This episode turned out to be far more serious than I realized and in my case, I could have caused my own death, prematurely. PRIOR to this episode, my heart valves were secretly "going south". Even my US doctors didn't pick up on it .... AND I did have a heart ultrasound done just 1 year ago. But this episode with dehydration exposed the truth: 3 out of 4 heart valves were not functioning properly. Thus began the journey with cardio tests, medications, counseling etc.

My point? Suck up that water! AND if you are also diabetic, like me, drink PowerAde Zero (coca cola product) daily to avoid loss of potassium etc from frequent urination.

LOL on the side: one of my medications is V____A ... which is also used for pulmonary hypertension. HOW FUNNY IS THAT! My medication schedule starts tomorrow. I wonder .... will my libido feel "mucho grande?" LOL
