energy cost in Nicaragua

petrol price is still dropping in the US to below USD2.00/gal. This seems like a bonanza to many people but I am very concerned about this price war and may destroy the economy of many countries. How is the situation here where oil imports are coming mainly from Venezuela ?.
Venezuela which has the world's largest oil reserves is in deep economic crisis due to falling oil prices and Maduro is going to China to ask for an emergency loan to keep the country going.
Fuel prices are sold in liters in Nica. Can someone update me on the prices around the country.
Nicaragua is in a very favorable position tapping on solar and wind energy and not dependent solely on fossil energy. However electricity cost is still very high compared to even the US. Is the government making any effort to reduce dependence on fossil fuels? Please correct me me if this information is incorrect. On the contrary I heard that there is a heavy tariff on use of solar panels to achieve independence from fossil energy to keep the utility companies profitable. This is even the case in the US States e.g Arizona have imposed strict laws for people who wants to become energy independent because the utility companies are concerned about reduction in profits. I am planning to install solar in my home but am hesitating because of the above.
Welcome responses from those who are familiar with the situation.
