Possible financing for the Nicaragua Canal

Finally, the last major country, Australia has joined the AIIB to be eligible as a voting member of the bank. Japan has missed the dateline so unless the rules are bent in their favor will not have voting powers. The US is the remaining major country that has lobbied but failed to block others from joining. Until now the World bank and IMF has been the main vehicles on how small countries can get financial aid for their infrastructure development. It means bowing to the severe conditions set by them. The 1987 Asian financial crisis is a case in point . Other CA countries like Columbia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Equador and Honduras are too dependent on US aid to even think of being a signatory of the AIIB. If the Nicaragua Grand Canal gets its aid from this bank all 50 or more signatories will be contributing to the success of the project. Nicaragua itself does not have the capital large enough to finance the canal. They will have to resort to the Hongkong model created by the British ( the 99 year lease) which has been very success in creating wealth for themselves. It of course created wealth for Hongkong with almost no natural resources except from the sweat of its people. Nicaragua can also achieve the same if its people can support the opportunity now before them. It has been a 500 year old dream from the time of the Conquistadors . Like others have said the Monroe doctrine is dead. .Nicaraguans must move forward for the sake of their own future.
