Matagalpa visit

Hey all, my next trip to Nic is probably going to be Matagalpa for a few days.
Anyone recommend a hotel that is close to sites & restaurants? I'd like a larger hotel, perhaps one that offers day trips/excursions or tours. I'm not against staying at one of the eco-resorts I see online, but I'd prefer a more local experience if possible. After all, I'm looking for a place to live in years to come.
