Nica Bank Account?

When we move to Nicaragua in June we'll keep open our credit union savings/checking account and two credit cards in the U.S, but I'm thinking we should probably open an account at a Nicaraguan bank too to pay for rent and bigger expense items (more than the cash that could probably be withdrawn at ATMs) . However, I've read that foreign banks are increasingly reluctant to open accounts for Americans due to overly restrictive American regulations. What have Americans living in Nicaragua done for banking needs? What would you recommend? Thanks, Tracy
