I am a home builder, and my wife and I are contemplating a move to Nicaragua. We are, however, in our mid 40s and not yet ready to hang up the hammer so to speak and retire.
I am thinking about setting up shop as a GC / home builder and continuing my current career down there. I am curious as to the following:
- Whether there is sufficient demand in Nicaragua for new construction homes.
- Specifically, whether there is a need for trustworth "gringo" / English speaking GCs to build new construction for Expats wanting to relocate.
- In general, what the business climate is like for an "outsider" to start up this type of business and compete with local contractors (is it frowned upon, is it difficult to do from a regulatory perspective / will I get run out of town by the locals in this field)?
