Shipping things to Nicaragua

So in the course of discussions with my wife, she asks "does Amazon ship to Nicaragua?" I know, learning to get by without all the gringo trappings is something we have to learn. But I did find a service called Flycrates that does deliver Amazon products to Nica. It looks like it basically doubles the price of the goods. Have any of you ever used it? Have a group of expats ever made an order and split the shipping customs costs?

Also, if we come down in Oct-Nov, are there things we can bring expats that may help and are small enough for our luggage and of course legal through customs?
