urgent visa question

We have been running an animal sanctuary for injured carthorses in Nicaragua. When I should have been renewing my visa, I was running around trying to find a vet to operate on an injured horse. Bottom line -I have overstayed by more than 2 years. My brother died in the UK at the weekend and of course I want to attend his funeral, I am ready and willing to pay my overstay fine at the airport when I leave but my partner and I are terrified that I won't be allowed back into Nicaragua. Is there anyone who can tell me what will happen to me in this case? I was told by a solicitor that once the fine is paid that is it, you can fly out and return, as long as you promise to start the process of getting residency, but can anyone tell me if they know of anyone this has happened to, and if they were allowed back in after paying their fine? what would you do in my situation? Is there anything I can do to put my mind at rest? I feel sick at the thought of missing my brother's funeral. Your advice is welcome and much appreciated. Alf.
