Where To Spend A Year Or So

Greetings all! I'm newly registered and need your help to begin my research on moving to Nicaragua. In four years, I'll be vested in my pension and wish to spend a year or two living in NI to learn Spanish and downshift. I've been to NI three times already as a tourist 2-3 weeks each time.

I'd like to narrow my choices to cities that aren't too hot. Matalgalpa, Jinotega, Somoto are cities that come to mind from my quick google searches. I've been to Matalgalpa, but not the other two. I didn't know about Somoto Canyon until after my third visit so if Somoto or a nearby town has better temps, I'd focus there for starters. My biggest gripe with NI is that my super fair skin and normal living conditions aren't in the sunny 90's plus so a cooler year round temp is what I need. Suggestions welcomed!
