Ferry El Salv to Nica

Is there an active car ferry running between El Salvador to Nicaragua? I’ve read a bit that suggests something exists or may have existed in the past. I’m not sure though if that is still operational and/or ever could accommodate cars too? Looking for an alternative to complete a loop road trip north into Honduras-Guatemala-ElSalvador without doing a double border crossing on the way back to Nicaragua.
