Moving to the UK

I will be attending the University of Leicester in the Fall. My daughter will also be attending school. I've never been to the UK before, so I'm all thumbs with this kind of thing. I just have a few questions.

1. With the school deadline over, will my daughter still be able to get into a decent UK school?

2. I don't really have the money to make a trip without her to look for housing, so I was thinking of staying in a hotel for about 10 days when we move so that we have time to look for housing before the school year begins. Is this a good idea? Is 10 days enough time to find a place to live and settle in?

3. What are the best areas of Leicester to live in that are close to the University?
