Social life for a Single Retired Woman

What is the best place to find cafes with friendly people, and not all couples especially ?

Does anyone know of any environmental groups working on the plastic pollution issue on the beaches here ?

I'm an avid swimmer, but only want to swim in calm water. I have read about a few beaches for that. Which ones does anyone recommend ?
