Residence visa out three years

Ecuador expat for ten years. Retirement residence visa. Left end of 2019. At that time the law said up to 5 years out was ok. Then the law changed (in 2021?) to say 3 years max time away. So, if i show up in December of 22 will I be bagged? or is it the law at the time I left (5 years). Could go either way and this might be another flip the coin decisions at migracion.

So please tell me, anyone with recent relavevent experience, how has migracion interpreted re: visa holders in the above situation.

Ten years experience of Ecuador and the paper work...so no theories, or "in a perfect world, this or that". Real experience.

I also know it varies from office to office. No doubt the phase of the moon affects things as well.
