How much does IESS insurance cost me per month if my income is $0/month?
I've read on this website that expats can voluntarily become members of the Ecuadorian National Health Insurance IESS (Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social) by paying 17.60% of their income.

Currently (October 2022), new applicants for an investor visa requires you to earn a minimum of the "basic salary" (salario básico) of $425 per month. So IESS would cost 425*0.176 = $75.15 per month.
Currently (October 2022), new applicants for an retiree visa requires you to earn a minimum of three times the "basic salary" (salario básico) of $425/mo. That's 425*3 = $1,275. So IESS in this case would cost 1275*0.176 = $224.40 per month.
But after these temporary, 2-year visas are up, you can apply for permanent residency. Does permanent residency require any minimum income?
Anyway, after permanent residency, you can apply for citizenship. I don't think there can be a minimum income requirement for a citizen..
So my question is: if your income drops to $0 (ie you retire without a pension and live off just your savings), how much would IESS cost in Ecuador?
