shipping households by sea / taxes at customs

dear all non residents of Jamaica:

has anybody sent their belongings (furniture, cutlery, musical instruments, books) via cargo ship to JA (mobay area) ? i know some expats recommend shipping their homes and i myself figured, that it might actually be much cheaper to do so, if I found a way to a kid paying taxes at customs. does anybody know how to do it and what documents to present ? my kids go to school here and i am in the process of selling my property in the states. i have a huge three bedroom back on the states and most of my furniture is in good condition, not only won't i be able to afford most of those things buying in JA, i just downright cant find here the stuff I want (piano, drums, huge library). do you know how can i move all of it to JA without paying tens of thousands to bring it in ?

please, refrain from rhetorical questions re why dont i want to live in the states and what the heck am i doing in JA. i love it here, i live here and everything is roses and peaches. just want to bring all my stuff with me, instead of selling it for cheap there and buying unsatisfactory furniture here.

thank you in advance!
