living costs in HCMC

I am applying for a job in HCMC, and was wondering what sort of expat package to ask for. I have lived in Jakarta - are the costs and lifestyle similar? Is there an expensive sports club, are cars and houses expensive? Do expats generally have domestic staff?
Any recent info would be appreciated.
